Don''t know much about Sykes other than what I''ve read here but if he wants to be taken seriously he better increase his speed to match Spies otherwise he''ll be out the door after this season (unless he has a multi-year contract that is). I''m not a Spies fan at all, actually quite the opposite, so I''ll be hoping he catches Spies and kicks his butt.

Marc - then read the articles! Then you would see that Sykes did only a handful of laps in first two days due to illness, and then on last day was thrown from bike - mechanical failure, not rider error - and he damaged his shoudler and broke his foot (this bit reported subsequently).

Agree that Spies is fast but give Sykes a break (no pun intended....) and lets see them back to back when both are fit.

He was a true battler in BSB, and whilst he has a real challenge on his hands to be on the podium in WSB, give the guy a chance.

I'm afraid Sykes should in no way be on a factory bike, Haslam handed him his backside on a plate and gets a who knows what from stiggy, total knee jerk from Yam after a good showing in one of the british rounds, just top ten if he is lucky...Nori shouldn:t have left.. hopefully spies will pull it out of the bag he appears to be good enough...

Give the lad a chance, you all know how hard it is to give your road bike some stick when you are feeling off colour so how is he supposed to test a 190mph monste in a hot climate 1000's of miles from home when he has a debilitating bug. I'm sure Yamaha don't do "knee jerk" someone with more knowledge than us has obviously "scouted" Sykes as one for the future. he is young enough to have a learning year and progress into a top contender
