I've said it before. I can't see Ben going to MotoGP. It's only logical. Why go to a series where the machinery determines the running order? A boring series at that!

World Superbikes, bar none, is the best to watch, with the best real world riders on the best production based machines.

If you want MotoGP to shine brighter than WSBK, take their traction control down a few notches and bring back the 990 displacement. You know, it's a pleasure to delete the MotoGP races off my DVR these days.

Spies is intelligent and if the logic is clear enough, he'll stay right where he is with Yamaha.

And, thank you, Ben. We are witnessing something beautiful with your skills.

Fiat yamaha will run the 3rd bike next year with Ben on board the 3rd bike (this happens after Lorenzo finally decided to stay there too)....
So...starting from 2010 season...motoGP podium will be all for Fiat Yamaha.......
By 2015 motoGP will change name to become one make GP....

Nonmilagno thank you for your kind words!

KTMen, I wish he proves me wrong, fot it means that we r in for some serious racing. But first this has to happen. People here act as if he is already a moto gp champion. All this hype was taking place also when Hayden was to enter MotoGP and look what he has offered to the sport! Iron cloth? good one mate :)

Dear Mr. Sneeze,

Big Ben Spies can win anywhere, including MotoGP. At the start of the current WSBK series a lot of nay-sayers said he couldn't cut it in WSBK. Well, WRONG! This kid is made out of iron cloth, and you, my friend, will apparantly be bitterly disappointed when he proves you wrong.

SNEEZE

My but you are a tremendous idiot. Unless you're Italian or Spanish you must be incredibly desperate for a bike hero.

Strange in my eyes that people think that Spies is so good. Maybe in WSBK, but as we all know Moto GP is another story. A story in which Spies will not have a big role. He is good but not Moto GP champion material. FFS last year he gave it a go, did you see any signs that he can be running in front? Guess the americans are desperately looking for a new bike hero.

i don't have the time or patience to sift through all the drivel posted so far with a few exceptions... so forgive me if this has already been said.

lorenzo to repsol.

spies to fiat yamaha.

done deal.

and before you start quoting the rules about 'rookie season' to me... he has riden in the class and therefore does not count as a rookie.

why would spies want to go to a dying dinasour that is moto gp? 16 riders Formula 1 style boredom 3 good bikes!! even Rossi has said he would love to race WSB for the rider to rider battles, Rossi is the only thing that attracts people to Moto GP now, the best racing he will ever get will be in WSB

sorry, don't see how jorge leaving yamaha would make a difference since spies couldn't join the factory team anyway due to the new rookie rule. unless his "wild card" ride means he is not deemed to be a rookie???

does anyone know exactly what the definition of a rookie is in motogp? do you have to have ridden for a whole season or just one race?

Check visordown dot com. Spies will stay in WSB next year unless he wins title or JL leaves Yam.

my opinion, based on pure speculation and what i would do if i had the fortune to be in ben's situation...

first, if my only concern was to "enjoy" racing then i would have stayed in AMA so people thinking he'll stay in WSBK because he enjoys it are missing the mark. i would want to test myself against the BEST and that, like it or not, is rossi, lorenzo, pedro etc.

therefore i believe spies will go to tech 3 yamaha, probably taking toseland's ride until rossi decides to depart and he's promoted to the full factory team. it wouldn't surprise me if yamaha provided him with a factory machine during his time in tech 3, like HRC do with some of their contracted riders.
