"he looks like spies" "he's faster than spies" blah blah blah

Can the guy just be Cal Crutchlow? Can he at least finish the first test? Or better yet just let him start the season first. Jeez. I guess next if he doesn't win half the races and almost all the superpoles he won't live up to the "hype". Don't load the guy up with the pressure and expectations just yet - let him get on with it.

For me it was never a question of whether Cal would be quick or not - he was always going to be very fast. It's more a question of whether he's been able to eliminate those frequent crashes that blighted his BSB campaign. He only crashed once during a race this year (which he says was down to a misbehaving gearbox) but quite a few times in practice, resulting in a few injuries this year (broken foot at Donington). He has no weak tracks and can ride well in all conditions, so if he can keep it upright he could certainly be a candidate for a top 3 placing in the championship.

As long as you don't injure yourself, it's okay to crash in practice. You have to exceed the limit to find the limit, especially when you're on a new track and a new bike as he was this year. Then again, he wasn't really consistantly pushed by anybody this year, whereas the competition will be tougher in Superbikes.

I can see me posting this a few times over the coming months.....Next year is gonna be so good for British fans, Crutchlow, Rea and Haslam have already shown they will be at the sharp end, and Toseland will be there or there abouts. Just hope Camier and Shaky can confirm get a ride.

Cal really seriously impressed me this year. If he can carry that speed, drive and determination into WSBK next year then I think he can lift the title at the first try. He even looks a bit like Spies.
