Biaggi warns rivals more to come from Aprilia

Off the back of a fourth-place championship finish in WSBK in 2009, former MotoGP runner-up Max Biaggi suggests Aprilia will be a force to be reckoned with indeed in 2010...
Aprilia World Superbike Championship (WSBK) star Max Biaggi has revealed his confidence for 2010 after topping the times during the Valencia test late last week aboard his Aprilia RSV4 – and he warned his rivals that there is still plenty more to come ahead of next season.

Biaggi was the only rider to dip below the 1m34s barrier throughout the two-day test, as Aprilia, Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki used the opportunity to get some final running under their belts in 2009. The former MotoGP world championship runner-up and WSBK rookie team-mate Leon Camier tried out the new suspension package that will be fitted to the 2010-spec RSV4, working through different set-up options along the way – and afterwards the Italian admitted his tail was up.

“We went much better than we did in the race” Biaggi told the official WSBK website at the end of his 127 laps of the Spanish circuit. “This means that the four-cylinder machines have improved a lot, even though the Ducatis – who won both races here in 2009 – were not present at these tests.

“The excellent track conditions helped a lot, and being able to lap together with the others confirmed that we are all very competitive. The tests were positive, but we've still got some development margin – we didn't try out any new electronics, and only tested with the two tyres Pirelli brought to Valencia.

“Now we head for the Christmas break with the knowledge that we've obtained everything possible with the material available. For sure we'll have some more new things to try at Portimão (in late January), but I'm already feeling pretty confident.”
