A1 announces new car re-design

A1GP has announced that the new Powered by Ferrari car will feature an engine cover akin to the shark-fin now featured on a number of Formula 1 machines in an effort to increase sponsor and partner exposure during the upcoming season.

The re-design of the engine cover on the car is also set to help provide closer and more exciting racing during the new campaign with the car set to make its public debut in a launch at Mugello on 22 July.

“With all the cars being identical we have flexibility to make sure we deliver our promises to both our sponsors and fans,” A1 chief commercial officer Scott Hollingsworth said. “This enlarged engine cover allows a much higher profile position, while delivering the on track performance we demand.

“We are working hard to make sure our commercial partners get the most out of their association with A1GP.”

Official team testing will be held at Silverstone on 19-20 August with a second test confirmed to take place at Donington Park on 9 and 11 September.
