Andretti confirmed for China

As expected, Andretti Green Racing's involvement with A1 Team USA will see its IndyCar pilots taking the wheel of the squad's Powered by Ferrari machine in this year's World Cup of Motorsport, with Marco Andretti making his A1GP debut at next weekend's Chengdu round.

Although Charlie Kimball received a late call-up for the opening double-header at Zandvoort nearly a month ago, recording eighth and tenth place finishes in appalling conditions at the Dutch circuit, AGR regular Andretti will take over the reins for round two, ahead of an expected seat-share with IRL team-mate Danica Patrick for much of the remainder of the season.

"We're pleased that Marco is getting the chance to drive a different car than what he is used to," team co-owner - and Marco's father - Michael Andretti commented, "The team has worked hard to make this a successful venture from the very start and I expect Marco to be quick and learn a lot driving the A1GP."

The Ferrari will be the third different race car that Andretti Jr has piloted during 2008, having already added outings in AGR's LMP2 class Acura sportscar at the Sebring, Lime Rock Park and Road Atlanta ALMS rounds to his 18 starts - and seventh-place finish - in the IndyCar Series.

"Getting to race in China is something I'm really looking forward to," the youngster admitted, "Although the A1GP programme is new to Andretti Green, I thought that the crew did a great job with the first race. They had to put in a lot of effort just to get on track and were able to get the car up to speed rather quickly.

"I know there is a possibility that the weather could add another element to the race, but that should only make the race more challenging for the drivers and more entertaining for the fans."
