Ireland leads the way for feature pole

Adam Carroll has taken his second pole position of the A1GP season after leading the way in qualifying for the feature race at Sepang.

Carroll, who also secured a pole position last time out in China, posted a best time of 1min 47.124secs during the second segment of feature race qualifying to secure pole – with his lap being slightly quicker than the one posted by Neel Jani to take pole for the sprint race.

Carroll ended the session two tenths of a second clear of Danny Watts who ensured Great Britain would start from the front row of the grid, while the big surprise came in the shape of Team Lebanon – with Daniel Morad taking third place for easily the team's best qualifying performance to date.

Home hero Fairuz Fauzy was fourth quickest in the Malaysian entry ahead of Portugal's Filipe Albuquerque, while Jeroen Bleekemolen rounded out the top six for the Netherlands.

Completing a topsy-turvy pair of grids for the third round of the year following the introduction of the Powerboost 'joker', two of the top three from the sprint race grid found the going tough in feature race qualifying.

Pole man Jani could manage only the 16th quickest time for Switzerland while Earl Bamber, third fastest for New Zealand in the sprint race session, will start one place ahead on the grid.
