I'm owed money by this Sh*T someone on this site lovingly calls "MR Texiera" Do you pro Sh*t lobby really think the series can go on. This season's winning team has dissbanded with no prize money , New Zealand has dissbanded pulled out, Lebenon who paid their bills has pulled out with all the team layed off. France are about to call it a day along with South Africa, "Mr Texiera" has no staff left. The Silverstone facility is abandond, the London office only has a lawyer in it. "Mr Texiera" has no race cars and no equipment, a creditor is holding them against a huge debt, including innocent mechanics own personel gear. We are all dreaming if we think any money will come from these people

They can only be Jim Raptis and Soheil Abedian. These two developers have knocked down and rebuilt most of Surfers Paradise -- what a combination!

Maneuvering for position is the Army Surplus Special.

Sergeant Blast is none other than Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson and Private Meekly is our very own Superintendent Jim Keogh.

They more than qualify for wackiness by insisting that policing numbers are a 'need to know basis only' ... they're kidding, aren't they?

Right behind is the Ant Hill Mob in their Bullet Proof Bomb.

Well, of course this can only be the bumbling bureaucracy that is the Gold Coast City Council.

It was a fabulous cartoon from my youth, a time when cartoons were simple fun and we believed Fred Flintstone really could power a car with his feet. But the Wacky Races was the ultimate.

And now here they are!

The most daredevil group of daffy drivers to ever whirl their wheels in the Wacky Races, competing for the title of world's wackiest racer.

Can you imagine anything more perfect to parade through the streets of Surfers Paradise?

The cars are approaching the starting line.

First, is the Turbo Terrific driven by Peter Perfect, aka John-Paul Langbroek.

A man with a lovely smile, a twinkle in his eye and very little else.

Next is Rufus Ruffcut and Sawtooth in the Buzzwagon.

Wacky but minus the A1 Races.

Robyn Wuth October 17th, 2009

WELL, well, well.

So here we are, a week out from the sooper-dooper A1GP race and the organisers seem to have misplaced the cars.

Now, I'm no motor racing expert, but it seems to me if you want to stage an international motor racing event, you might need cars.

And wheels.

And petrol and a driver could possibly come in handy.

In the apparent absence of the international jewel in our motor racing crown, fret not.

We have the Mr Whippy grand prix which I think is fabulous, but we'll need more.

You know what this event needs?

Wacky Races.

Then she, with Mr Mackenroth, secured the fatally flawed deal with A1GP.

The debacle has caused widespread unrest about next week's Gold Coast race and impacted ticket sales, corporate bookings and the reputation of the event.

from each of the races would not compromise the strategic racing expected because refuelling and pit-stops would still come into play.

Each race would be for championship points and a 20-minute qualifying shoot out on Sunday for the day's two races would also be added to the schedule.

Today's announcement is a major embarrassment for SuperGP Greg Hooton and chairman Terry Mackenroth who oversaw the deal with failed sponsor Nitro and now failed open-wheelers A1GP.

And government minister Judy Spence is not out of the woods either.

The former Sport Minister was holding the reins when she announced she had secured the Indy Racing League for a future contract when she clearly hadn't. Then s

"We've never done 600km of racing in two days and never done four races in a weekend before, so this will be a first," said Mr Cochrane told the Gold Coast Bulletin and goldcoast.com.au exclusively on Friday.

"What we've done is worked with the Queensland Government to have a real genuine plan B in place."

Mr Cochrane alerted all the V8 Supercar teams that they would need to be prepared to race 600km instead of the 400km previously planned.

It would require them to completely change their car set-up some of the Victorian teams would most likely do that once they arrived on the Gold Coast.

Mr Cochrane said taking off 50km from each of the races would not compromise the strategic racin

He spent Friday working with V8 Supercars boss Tony Cochrane to come up with an alternative event schedule should A1GP chief Tony Teixeira fail to meet demands to prove he had freighters booked to bring his cars to Australia.

Not only did Mr Teixeira fail to show those documents, he admitted in writing they would not be racing in Australia.

Under the new plan, the Gold Coast's premier motorsport event will become the biggest endurance race held by V8 Supercars after Bathurst.

They will switch their race schedule from a 200km race on Saturday and Sunday, to instead hold four races in two days -- two 150km races on both days.

A1GP not coming to Surfers Paradise

October 17th, 2009

THE besieged A1GP car racing series today admitted it will not be coming to Australia next week to join the SuperGP on the Gold Coast.

Sports Minister Phil Reeves today announced the A1GP was officially out of the event due to start next Thursday on the Surfers Paradise street track.

It was the worst kept secret in world motorsport for weeks and it seems only the organisers of the SuperGP believed the increasingly unstable A1GP would actually show up.

The Gold Coast Bulletin exposed holes in the A1GP plan on a daily basis this week until Mr Reeves stepped in on Friday to announce a back-up plan, which today he executed.

confirmed it had no bookings for the two Boeing 747s expected to bring the cars to Australia this weekend.

A source in the Irish team said it was extremely unlikely that they would take part next week, while A1GP media spokesperson Ann Bradshaw confirmed that the cars were still in the UK but insisted they were working to get the cars to Australia.

Queensland taxpayers are subsidising the event to the tune of AUS$11.6 million.
