Italy have confirmed a four driver line-up for the upcoming A1 GP season, with Enrico Toccacelo once again leading their charge.
Toccacelo has spearheaded the team in both A1 GP seasons, scoring a victory in Beijing last year on the way to seventh in the overall standings, and will return to challenge for the title this season.
He will be joined though by newcomers Edoardo Piscopo, Paolo Bossini and Giuseppe Termine who will make up Italy's rookie line-up.
Piscopo comes to the team having competed in the Formula 3 Euroseries this season, while Bossini and Termine are protégés of the Ghinzani team that runs the A1 GP effort having competed for the team in Italian Formula 3.
“'With A1GP I realised that a real new important thing was born in the world of motorsport,' said Piercarlo Ghinzani. “Countries that until yesterday were not in motorsport finally have the opportunity to compete and win in this discipline.
”I want to give new opportunities to our drivers. I am convinced that A1 Team Italy could become a perfect means for Italian brands in the future. In 2005/06 we were 14th place, and the following year we finished seventh. This year we expect to climb to the podium.”
