GB to miss Zandvoort.

A1 Team Great Britain has revealed that it will be one of the teams to miss the opening rounds of the new A1GP season this weekend in the Netherlands.

Following delays in the build schedule of the new Powered by Ferrari car, a number of teams are set to miss the Zandvoort event, with series organisers having already implemented a new scoring system to minimise the losses of those teams forced to miss the first race weekend of the fourth season.

Despite huge efforts from the entire British team to get the car ready to compete in the season opener, the delays in the new A1GP car build schedule has meant it wasn't possible and as such, focus has now turned to the second round of the campaign in China next month.

"We are obviously extremely disappointed that, despite working incredibly hard, A1 Team GBR will not be racing at Zandvoort this weekend," team principal Katie Clements said. "I'm exceptionally grateful to everyone involved in trying to make it possible.

"However this small set-back definitely hasn't changed our ultimate goal of winning the Championship this season, having come so close in all previous seasons. I am pleased that this will still be possible due to the amended points system announced by A1GP, which means we will not be penalised for missing a race, but A1GP can still offer fans the exciting racing that they have come to expect at the Zandvoort track."
