Jonny Mowlem is to continue to campaign a Ferrari 430 in the American Le Mans Series in 2008 although with a different team after confirming he will switch to Corsa Motorsport next season.
The Briton, who drove at selected races for the Risi Competizione team and also competed in the GT Open series back in Europe, will partner Gunnar Jeanette in the Hankook-shod car as the team aims to launch itself into the ALMS on a full-time basis after a trying 2007 that saw its car severely damaged in a fire early in the year and also saw a partnership with Petersen/White Lightning fall apart.
However, with plans now in place for a full season, Mowlem said he was excited to confirm his place with the team and said he was also delighted to be continuing his relationship with Ferrari into another year.
"I have developed a very good relationship with the Ferrari factory," he said. "After Steve's [Steve Pruitt - team owner] initial phone call, I had several conversations with different people at Ferrari and I quickly realised that this project was very much on their horizon, as something they were giving their full support.
"With that in mind, it allows me to not only to continue to build on my relationship with them, but also to return to the ALMS, which my absence from this year has very much reinforced my opinion that it is the world's premier sports car platform for a professional driver."
Mowlem added that his new deal was very much different to the one he had with Risi next season as he switches to a team very much in its infancy but he said h was looking forward to the challenge of helping the team move up the motorsport ladder.
"In some ways this is diametrically opposite to my deal with Risi Competizione. where I was walking into a top level deal that was already consistently winning," he said. "With Corsa Motorsport, the challenge will be to help take the team to that kind of level, and I find that a very exciting proposition.
"But with Steve Pruitt at the helm, huge commitment from Hankook worldwide and a fantastic team mate in Gunnar Jeanette I am looking forward to the challenge and having some fun at the same time."
