Team LNT has announced that it will enter an LMP1 Ginetta-Zytek into the 2008 Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta next month.
The event will mark only the second LMP entry for the team, with its only previous race coming in LMP2 at Silverstone last season when Danny Watts and Tom Kimber-Smith combined to take pole position and a podium finish.
Prior to that, the team was best known for its exploits in the GT classes with both TVR and Panoz – winning the Le Mans 24 Hours GT2 class in 2006.
Watts will once again be at the wheel of the car, with his partner still to be named, while the branding of the entry as a Ginetta-Zytek has come about through the recent announcement that Zytek founder Bill Gibson and Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson now have an equal controlling interest in Zytek Engineering.
“Several new and exciting projects have been kick started by the new relationship,” Tomlinson said. “Both companies will complement and strengthen their presence in International Motorsport with Ginetta benefiting from the high-end technology filtering down into its road and race cars.
“Zytek Engineering is one of Britain's best kept secrets with a hugely talented staff vastly experienced in varied automotive technologies. We believe this partnership will assist Zytek Engineering in becoming a much more visible force, demonstrating its abilities across a broader automotive range.
“The end result of the new on-track race team and development programme between Ginetta and Zytek Engineering will assist road car innovation and manufacture.”
