Highcroft chases Mosport repeat

Having gone back to the top of the podium last time out at Road America, Patron Highcroft Racing will seek to extend its championship lead in the American Le Mans Series as the series heads to Canada for the next round of the season at Mosport.

David Brabham and Scott Sharp ended the winning run of rivals de Ferran Motorsport last time out and will now seek to extend their 13 point lead in the standings at a circuit where they took victory in the LMP2 class last season.

Mosport was the scene of Highcroft's last victory of the 2008 campaign and Brabham said the team was hoping for more of the same this time around.

"It is amazingly close at the moment,” he said. “We have to be precise with everything because the competition is so tight. The best goal for us at the moment is to keep doing what we are doing, pushing for race wins and concentrating on one race at a time.

"Qualifying has become extremely important because the competition is so close but Mosport is the type of track where because of the different speeds between the classes and the type of corners, I expect we are going to see more passing opportunities than what we've seen the past few races.

"It will be a very close battle that I am really looking forward to. Last year was one of the most enjoyable races I have ever been involved in and I think this year we are going to see more of the same.

"The speeds are so high here and I think the Acura will be very well suited here. Every track we go to we learn even more about the package so everyone is really looking forward to this one."
