BMW loses GT2 pole

Flying Lizard Motorsport take GT2 pole at Sebring following post-qualifying penalty for BMW
Flying Lizard Motorsport will start the American Le Mans Series opener at Sebring from GT2 class pole after the BMW of Dirk Muller was stripped of its quickest time.

Muller had posted a time of 2min 00.782secs to secure pole for BMW Rahal Letterman, but the team was then stripped of pole when the car failed a post-session stall test.

The car will drop to the rear of the field as a result, with the Porsche of Jorg Bergmeister moving into class pole.

“I was happy with the qualifying lap, and, at the moment, it was the most we could expect in that session," said Bergmeister. "We had an aggressive tyre choice, and were honestly surprised that the others in the class were not as fast as they had been earlier in the week.

“Still, the pole position at the front of the grid will help us get a fast start."

The Lizards lead a Porsche 1-2 on the grid after Wolf Henzler posted the third quickest time for Team Falken Tire – moving up to second after the BMW penalty.
