Piloti boots from Grand Prix Legends

Piloti has become more that just a driving boot, it is the preferred boot many high profile drivers.
If you think you've got the skills of a racing driver, just without the racing car to prove it, then Piloti is a brand of footwear that is going to be right up your street.

Piloti is the brainchild of American product designer and lifelong car nut, Kevin Beard. He has designed shoes for brands like Adidas and Reebok, but his dream was to create the perfect driving footwear. Some would say he succeeded as, in recent years, Piloti has become the leading American name in driving boots and shoes.

There's no shortage of footwear out there that looks like driving boots, but really these are just general sports trainers that have been styled to look the part. Piloti shoes are different. Beard wanted shoes that were designed to help the serious driver get the most out of the car, but which were still comfortable enough to wear all day.

One of the unique features, which is common to all Piloti shoes, is the company's patented Roll Control spherical heel cushion behind the heel bone. When driving, this rounded heel allows the foot to roll between the pedals. For most drivers, this will be noticeable on the right foot as it moves between the brake and the accelerator. It is particularly useful for those acquainted with heel-and-toeing. If you're a left foot-braker, then you'll see the benefits on that side, too.

On the right shoe, there is a reinforced panel that is also an aid when heel-and-toeing, yet Pilotis are not one-dimensional. These are shoes that are made from the finest leather and suede for superior comfort. The Polyurethane midsole provides all-day cushioning, whilst Piloti's unique Toe-Spring keeps the blood flowing in the end of the feet for greater feel.

This perhaps goes some way towards explaining how and why Piloti shoes have developed such a following amongst professional and enthusiastic amateur drivers in America. In addition to many professional racers in numerous series', Pilotis have become the preferred footwear for high-profile fanatics like David Letterman, Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, Patrick Dempsey and Chad McQueen.
