A lap record on Yamaha would be special. A lap record on a Honda that has so many electronics it practically rides itself around the circuit is average.

On Dani's fast lap you could hear how much traction control and other electronics were helping him.

Dani is a decent rider, I do not dislike him. But he is incomplete and only sets laptimes on empty track.

Wait for tomorrow's race. No points for qualifying. Season starts tomorrow.

@GOATse, yes the electronics were on, but if you were listening it was a constant rhythm not popping because he was using a different engine firing scheme for a different power profile through the turn. He was not being 'saved' by the electronics. IMO.

Everyone needs to set up a support 'system' to ensure Cal gets the works bike next year. With respect to Rossi (obviously he's lost the hunger to win), the Factory Yamaha is wasted on him. Congrats to Dani.

Now onto the topic, what..a..lap. On such a competitive circuit with such little gap through practice Dani nailed it and shoved six tenths of a second between himself and the rest. Ominous indeed. With that sort of gap I really can't see him getting beat tomorrow. He seems fast enough that he could build a gap and maintain his tyres until the end. Lorenzo could mount a challenge but he'll need his original bike. If he doesn't have that he's toast. Marquez is a wild card. Not a great quali but is always fast in the race.

I feel your pain Goatse. Another wasted year for goatboy, taking a perfectly good bike out of the hands of a more hungry and deserving rider. It must cut you like a knife to see such a fall from grace right. Oh, by the way, while you were dreaming of yellow clouds and lollypops, the season started in April at Qatar, we're a third of the way into the season. Tomorrow is race 6.
Well done Dani, you smashed Stoner's record and annihilated the opposition, kudos mate.

Lol, like Yamaha's don't have electronics. Ooh boohoohoo, Rossi has to do it all by himself, his whole career. There were never any electronics on the 500cc's or the 990's....

Bikes never circle tracks by themselves. They are not cars that can be saved from falling by another set of wheels.

@GOATse

every-time you post the Love for ROSSI oozes out unfortunately the stuff you say is rubbish. Rossi was first on the sheets at practice but come qualifying he is again on the third row its consistent must be said. Crutchlow on a satellite bike is 2nd on the grid says something about Rossi's inability to take the proto type to the limits. I am not disrespecting Rossi but come on get a life he is and has been for nearly three years on a downward slope and its sad to see or are you watching different pictures to the rest of the world. Dani,s Lap was awesome and anyone who says the bike rides itself get on it and ride it then. crutchlow put in an awesome lap you dont get onto the front row by luck. again anyone suggesting he has ROSSI'S bike all the stuff spouted about the NO2 bike being jinxed well on that premise Cal should have been in the kitty litter somewhere or on the 3rd Row where a certain 46 sits. No doubt the Rossi lovers will be all over the post as they all watch diffe
