Barwell Motorsports has announced that it will enter a single Aston Martin DBRS9 into the Belgian GT Championship for the 2009 season.

Belgian owner/driver Eddy Renard will share driving duties with experienced partner Vincent Vosse as the former British GT Champions expand into the Belgian series, with the deal ensuring Barwell will debut in the Zolder 24 Hours later in the year.

Renard and Vosse spent 2008 competing in a Ferrari 430 but will now switch to the Aston for the new season, with the car due to be delivered towards the end of March.

Pre-season testing will then take place in both the UK and Belgium before an entry into the Dunlop Maxx Endurance Cup race at Spa in early April to give both drivers extra time at the wheel of the new car.

Renard and Vosse will also enter the Snetterton round of the British GT Championship in July where they will run alongside the Beechdean/Barwell Aston of Andrew Howard and Jamie Smyth.

"We are really excited about joining the Belgian GT Championship," Barwell's Chris Needell said. "It is a very competitive series and we are really looking forward to racing against the best teams and drivers in Belgium.

"Eddy and Vincent showed last year that they can challenge for top positions, and we are very hopeful of putting together a strong challenge for the title."
