Rollcentre doubles up at Oulton

13 April 2009

Stuart Hall and Dan Brown made it a double win for Rollcentre Racing with victory in the second Avon Tyres British GT Championship race of the weekend at Oulton Park.

The race was even more straightforward for the young pair than Saturday's season opener, with Hall shadowing the Ferrari of Allan Simonsen throughout the opening stint of the race and Brown taking the lead shortly after the driver change, when Hector Lester suffered a spin exiting Old Hall.

From that point onwards, there was no challenge to the MOMO-backed Mosler as Hall completed a dominant win while the field behind battled for second.

Lester's hopes of a podium finish disappeared as he was reeled in by the Viper of Craig Wilkins and the Ascari of David Jones; both of which were lapping quicker and were able to find a way past the Rosso Verde Ferrari.

As Lester dropped away, Jones did his best to find a way past the Viper and on the penultimate lap, he was able to find a way past into second place at Lodge. Wilkins attempted to fight back into Old Hall on the final lap, but was unable to find a way through as the Jones brothers clinched second.

Lester took the flag in fourth place ahead of Duncan Cameron, who was a lonely fifth in the MTech Ferrari, while the top six looked like being completed by the Beechdean Aston Martin, before it failed to come round at the end of the final lap.

That meant the Chad Ferrari took sixth after a late move on the visiting Belgian GT Aston Martin of Eddy Renard and Vincent Vosse, which dropped back in the closing stages of the race but still took seventh. The Beechdean Aston was classed eighth.

In GT4, victory went to Jody Firth and Nigel Moore who completed a double for Team WFR ahead of Richard Sykes and Lawrence Tomlinson, with Hunter Abbott and Gary Simms in third. Once again, Ginetta took a podium lock-out.
