Having only just returned from Mugello and the latest round of the FIA GT Championship, Scuderia Ecosse pair Chris Niarchos and Tim Mullen will look to close in on the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Silverstone.
The duo currently hold a two-point lead of LNT pairing Tom Kimber-Smith and Luke Hines after a season that has seen maximum points handed out at only two meetings.
However, seven GT2 cars are due to line-up at Silverstone for the two hour race, meaning a full compliment of championship points is on offer (rather than half points when less than six cars take part) for the first time since Donington Park.
With ten points up for grabs to the race winner, Niarchos and Mullen could take the crown currently held by team-mates Andrew Kirkaldy and Nathan Kinch, something team boss Stewart Roden would love to see happen after a season that has seen his drivers win nine of the eleven races.
“We've always gone well at Silverstone and both Chris and Tim are quick there so it would be good if we could go out there and tie up the championship,” he said. “Chris and Tim have won over 80 per cent of the races this year so we'd like to finish the job off properly.”
