Barwell, Rosso Verde on pole at Rockingham

Barwell Motorsport and Rosso Verde-UCB were able to celebrate a pole apiece at Rockingham after qualifying for the latest rounds of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship.

Joe Osborne put Barwell's Ginetta G50Z on pole for the first time during qualifying for race one, setting a time of 1min 22.406secs on the only flying lap he was able to complete due to fuel pressure problems. That was good enough however to edge out Dan Brown in the Rollcentre Mosler, with Andrew Howard's Aston Martin and David Jones' Ascari on row two.

Chris Hyman was fifth in the Chad Racing Ferrari ahead of Phil Burton's VRS Ferrari, with Craig Wilkins' Viper and Hector Lester's Ferrari completing the top eight. GT4 pole went to the Rob Austin Racing Ginetta of Gary Simms.

In the second session, Allan Simonsen stormed to pole in the Rosso Verde Ferrari by just under half a second from Godfrey Jones in the Ascari and Adam Wilcox's Ferrari. Matt Griffin was fourth in the MTech Ferrari, despite contact with the Mosler of Gregor Fisken and the after-effects of a fire during the morning practice – believed to have been caused by an issue in the wiring loom.

GT4 pole for the second race went to the Team WFR Ginetta driven by Nigel Moore.
