Chevron Racing claimed two podium finishes across the three GT Cup Championship races held on the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch
(18-19 August), round six of the UK based series.
Driving a Chevron GT3, Jordan Witt won the first race of the weekend on Saturday in fine and dry conditions from second on the grid, as David Witt in the Chevron GR8 GT4 secured second in class. Jordan Witt took pole position for race two on Sunday morning, finishing in second, meanwhile David Witt claimed a 'class' victory in Group 2.
For the third race, also being the last race of the GT Cup series at Brands Hatch
this season, both Jordan and David Witt rounded off the weekend in style with Jordan taking the top step of the podium, and David being top of his class yet again.
“It was a good weekend for us, and I really got to grips with the newly fitted brakes on the GT3, which we have now been able to test even further,” Jordan Witt said. “I could feel the difference particularly at Paddock Hill, being able to break later into the corner and essentially having more speed. But it was actually at the Graham Hill Bend where we had the advantage over our closest competitors, and that's where on two occasions this weekend I was able to overtake them for the lead and to win.
“It was a roasting 37 degrees at one point on Sunday, the conditions being great all weekend. With three wins at the previous GT Cup event at Brands Hatch
back in June, and some solid results at this latest round, I have to say Brands has been a good circuit for me this year!”
David Witt was also delighted with the performance from the weekend.
“Both Chevrons, the GT3 and the GR8 GT4, showed their outstanding reliability here at Brands Hatch
by faultlessly finishing all three races over the weekend,” he said. “Thank you to the organisers for a fantastic race meeting, and we certainly couldn't have wished for better weather! It was the perfect 'hot weather test' for the Chevrons, in what could be described as extreme heat for the UK!”
