Byrne almost 100% for Cadwell

Shane Byrne insists he is almost fully-fit ahead of the latest round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship following his heavy fall whilst leading at Knockhill.

The championship leader caused the second race at the Scottish circuit to be stopped when he slid off his Airwaves Ducati at high-speed and accident that saw him taken by stretcher to the medical centre.

Although shaken and bruised, Byrne is nonetheless ready for a return to the saddle in the latest round at Cadwell Park having taken some time out to recover.

“At this moment in time I would say that I have recovered 95% from my fall at Knockhill, but I will be back to full fitness in time for first practice on Saturday,” he said.

Aiding his rehabilitation process has been the prospect of competing at the legendary Cadwell Park circuit, particularly scaling 'The Mountain', Byrne is also keen to repay the team that have spent time rebuilding his bike.

“I really love the Cadwell Park circuit and, as always, my sole intention for going as quickly as I possibly can around there will be to get back to The Mountain - I can't go over it enough! I know that I gave the Airwaves Ducati team a lot of work to do after Knockhill so I want to repay them here this weekend with some results to really celebrate about.”

Byrne leads the championship with eight races remaining by 110 points from Cal Crutchlow.
