BSS: Brookes claims pole on debut

Joshua Brookes made his impact on the British Supersport proceedings by claiming pole position for the final round of the season at Brands Hatch.

Taking a break from his World Supersport commitments, Brookes is riding for HM Plant Honda this weekend and he wasted no time in stamping his authority by edging Aussie compatriot Glen Richards to the top spot.

Newly crowned champion Richards battled hard with Brookes but he couldn't better his lap of 47.127secs, while Steve Plater and Daniel Cooper complete the front row positions.

Paul Young is looking to bring his tenure with MAP Embassy Racing to a successful close by qualifying fifth, ahead of Triumph counterpart Rob Frost. Hudson Kennaugh and Ian Lowry followed close behind on their respective Yamaha and Suzuki machines.

Craig Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, did a fine job to qualify ninth overall as the leading Cup rider on the BLDS Couriers Yamaha.

James' Webb and Westmoreland both look impressive, but it does look like this current crop of great young riders wont be replaced soon.

oh well, at least we get to watch them all take on the world's best!
