BSS: Richards wins final event for Embassy

Glen Richards completed a poignant victory for the Embassy Racing Triumph team in the final British Supersport round of the season at Brands Hatch.

The newly crowned champion was not supposed to be racing this weekend following the confirmation that Embassy Racing's crucial financial backing had been pulled. However, with the team members working for free, they have scrimped together enough funds to compete this weekend. Richards duly rewarded them with a winning climax to a superb season.

Prevailing in an enjoyable battle with Steve Plater, the pair swapped positions several times over the course of the race, but it was the Aussie who got the better of the Brit to win by seven tenths of a second.

The pair were joined in a fight with pole sitting visitor Joshua Brookes, but while he followed closely in third initially, he faded in the latter stages to finish a very distant third on the HM Plant Honda.

The battle for fourth was hotly contested, with Rob Frost clinging onto the position for much of the race, only to lose it to James Westmorland in the latter stages.

James Webb finished sixth, ahead of Dan Cooper on the second Centurion Honda, while Ian Lowry, Chris Martin and Hudson Kennaugh rounded out the top ten.
