I think a 1 race ban is about right.

It's a definite no no to crash into someone on the sighting lap and telling porkies about brake failure makes it worse.

But we don't want BSB to turn into F1 with arbitrary and draconian penalties handed out. I don't think Brookes is regularly a hazard, many of the best riders occasionally mess up.

Sure this is unfair for Guintoli and bad for the championship but punishing Brookes won't fix Sylvan's leg.

I would have thought the shame of injuring a fellow rider, albeit unintentionally is more than enough punishment for Brookes. Having said that if he did actually lie and so by association blame the team then you would think his tenure would be a short one. Probably until Plater flies again on it at the next round. I wonder what Glen Richards thinks about it all? He is the wise old owl in that team for sure, all the Brookes controversies takes the spotlight off the fact that HM Plant are not performing.

Brookes has a one race ban, suspended for three meetings. That means that he is not banned for one race unless he screws up again in the next three races. He will be riding at Thruxton and the rest of the season unless he does something else wrong. I think he got a little over excited trying to check a new set up prior to the start of the race. There is always the possibility that he knocked the pads back from the discs prior to braking by running up a curb very heavily. His telemetary will show massive suspension movement prior to the brakes being applied so it should be easy to prove or not. The fact that the team have not appealed leads me to believe that he just over did it. Sh1t happens

Did anyone see the interview with Neil Tuxworth on Eurosport yesterday? Reading between the lines, he didn't seem too happy about the whole incident....

Technically he didn't lie...i'm not his biggest fan and what he did was shocking, had it even been the warm up lap he could have used the excuse of trying to heat the tires, but on the sighting lap nothing to be gained.

looking at it on tv, he must have had some problem, even if he entered at race pace (which is stupid anyway) NO WAY WAS HE MAKING THAT CORNER! Even after he'd torpedo'd SG he was still hitting 60 onto the grass!

Bad bad bad mistake...but that doesn't mean it was all lies!

Ease up arm chair riders, when is the last time you shot into melbourne corner at DP.............mmmmm

Josh is no liar, he had a just few seconds to state his case and racing continued, reports ran with what he said in those first few moments, then it was discussed and finalised.

Nobody on this planet would feel as bad as he does for making a mistake at work.

A mistake he made entertaining you so sort out your facts put on your race leathers get a factory ride then type up your comments till your hearts are content slagging a fellow motorcyclists.

Jen, with all due respect, I assume you didn't see Josh being interviewed live on Eurosport yesterday.

Based on the stewards' findings, his entire interview was nothing more than a blatant lie and at the very least should have received a 3-race ban, not a suspended one.

Totally irresponsible riding that has effectively taken one of the main championship protagonists out of the equation and damaged the whole series from a viewer's standpoint.

He wants to think himself lucky he wasn't thrown out of the championship altogether!

The exit of the preceding chicane - the Foggy esses is a slow, off camber, uphill straight. Perfect terrain for a 'tank slapper'. Particularly violent tank slappers have been known, on many occasions, to force the brake pads back into the calipers and the fluid back into the master cylinder effectively de-pressurizing the system until, the lever is pumped, usually several times, to re-establish the system. This happened to Toseland many years ago on his first year on the Ten Kate Honda (I think) and resulted In a high speed crash. At the time I was suprised that Tose had not tested his brakes after the tank slapper and before he needed to use them but, it is proof that experienced riders do

make genuine mistakes, this scenario does not seem to have been considered, let alone ruled out so, I suggest that JB should not be condemened until then..at least.
