Brakes, engine, safety ??? so there has never been a rider that weighed 10 kg''s more than the heaviest BSB/Ducati combo? or 4kgs more than the current WSB/Ducati combo? hmm

Makes poor reading as an engineer. Soapbox stuff.

The FIM rulebook, which would appear not to apply to BSB just to WSB, says this about minmum weights and adjustments:

Minimum weight adjustments
The minimum weights will be increased or decreased in steps of 3 kg
according to the following procedure:
1. By taking the race points of the riders of the best two 1000 cc
4 cylinders and best two 1200 cc 2 cylinders in each race an average
will be calculated after every event, the 'event average'.
If there is only one finisher from one of the configurations, the 'event
average'will be calculated from the first rider of each configuration in
each race.
No 'event average' points will be calculated if one of the
configurations has no finishers. The 'event average' will then be
calculated, based on the results of the other race from the same
event.
If neither race has any finishers from one of the configurations, the
event will not be considered.
2. 'Wet' races (as declared by the Race Director) are not taken in account
for the calculation of an 'event average'.
3. After 3 events, the average value of the 'event averages' of each
configuration will be calculated. The score of the 1000 cc 4 cylinders
and the score of the 1200 cc 2 cylinders will be compared as follows:
• Should the average value of the 'event averages' over 3 events
favour the 1200 cc 2 cylinders by more than 5 points, and if a rider
of a machine with this configuration is leading the riders'
Superbike World Championship standings at that time, then the
minimum weight of all 1200 cc 2 cylinders will be increased by
3 kg. The upper limit is 171 kg.
• Should average value of the 'event averages'over 3 events favour
the 1000 cc 4 cylinders by more than 5 points, and if a rider of a
machine with this configuration is leading the riders' Superbike
World Championship standings at that time, then the minimum
weight of all 1200 cc 2 cylinders will be reduced by 3 kg. The lower
limit is 162 kg.

If you apply this to the current situation, the twins have a two-point advantage, so it begs the question from where did ten kilos come?

Yes those are the rules from WSBK, as written by Ducati.
Also the reason why MCRCB decided that the Ducati could not compete in the BSB. Looking at them, seems they were right!

Not only are Ducati potentially chasing away the 4's from WSBK, but also making it very hard for other legitimate 1200 twins like the RC8. In order to compete, KTM will also need to release a limited edition racer like the 1098R ... fitting it with exotic parts & selling it race ready.

When you are a leading team that have nearly 200cc more than any other team there's not much you can say!
I do agree that there would more than 5kg's between the lightest and heavyest riders now racing, so i don't see the problem.
5kgs is not going to make a winning bike into a loser.
Bring back the Norton with all the modern day electrics etc to really get the rule makings scratching there heads. Yes mate its really a 800cc wink wink what weight can we run our bike??.

Moving the goalposts at this early stage is an absolute farce. There is no doubt that Jack Valetine''s comments as Rizla Suzuki boss have also had a bearing on this decision and Simon Buckmaster (past Rizla manager)disagrees, as do HM Plant Honda. They are quite happy to continue with stock parts.

Darryl Healey has stated elsewhere ALL the 4 cylinder teams threw out a, joint ,Ducati team proposal, to allow non stock pistons on safety grounds. Now some four cylinder teams want non stock rods AND pistons "on safety grounds"

Bah Humbug!!!

As Foggy once said "the art of winning is being first past the chequered flag in the slowest possible time".....and he wasn''t riding Ducati then.

Rule 1 The Organiser make the rules and may change the rules at any time....

One last thing....

Am I the only who finds it strange that this all happens once Dorna have sold their interest to MSV.

Brands was a white out no fault there....but Oulton was back to the old days of sod the riders.....

TV times must be kept it doesn't matter that its raining, we'll go on slicks and see what happens. :blush: :?

Then Leon gets disqualified for being a trifle enthusiastic :rolleyes:

Now this....so the punters loose out but the organisers still rake it in :? :?
