The Brands hatch extra race sounds a good idea at the height of the summer, but the Oulton park round in October is a joke as with the short days and the noise restrictions on Sunday the schedule will be too packed to even get the 2 bsb races completed with the supporting classes.
Maybe for the extra race at Brands and Oulton they could have FP1 and FP2 on Friday as normal then Saturday morning FP3 would become Qualifying and Saturday afternoon would be Race one with Race 2 and 3 on Sunday.
This would make Saturday more of a spectacle for the fans and it would be no more expensive for the teams which in this current economic climate is what we should be aiming for..

Less practice and more racing sounds good. Mallory 2006 and Brands in May proved that some of this endless practice is ott. More races on telly gives better value for sponsors. Clever move if overall the running time is the same

Surely this will cost the teams more than they will make. Its needless!

Hey Chris, Why not?

Billy, What pressure? This a sport of choice. They do it cos they enjoy it and to entertain the likes of you and me. If not they can say no.

Looking forward to next season and this just adds a new twist. Nice one. :)

It's all about exposure for the sponsor. More races equals more coverage for the company that pays the bills. Any one that objects to this ought to have a look at the real world and be grateful that there are still companies that are willing to bank roll our entertainment.

It has nothing to do with exposure for the sponsors.
If that was the issue, then some priority would have been given to getting BSB back on terrestrial, preferably live, TV.
Most people only go to race day - this is an obvious and cynical ploy to try and get punters to commit to a weekend ticket instead, and shell out more on camping, food etc etc.
Milk the fan for all you can, whilst delivering a poorer and poorer spectacle.
Shame on you JP.

I've a suspicion Luke may be closest to the truth but NEVER MIND THAT ...

WHAT I WANNA KNOW is why the sidebar is Promoing 'free fitting' and the chance to win free Dunlop Roadsmarts when the Promo ended 7th or 8th December.

If the message is supposed to be 'You can trust Dunlop' that might be something of an own goal.

Please join a local club, attain a national licence, get good enough to attract enough sponsorship to enter BSB then see what pressure is involved

The riders that have joined teams to do next seasons BSB dont have a choice for 2009. Once you sign up to the Championship you are obligated to take part in every round and race. People will now say that they are already there so whats another race.
What happens if the organiser now decide to make every event a 3 race format. Would you do more at work for the same pay ??

This is such a crap idea, PLEASE don't start mucking around with the format! See what has happened to Touring Cars! It's just not a good idea to mess with a working format.
I don't like it at all.
