Camier: It was the right decision

Leon Camier says the right decision was made to curtail ViSK.com British Superbike Championship qualifying early after changeable weather conditions wreaked havoc at Snetterton.

Camier inherited a fourth pole position of the season after drizzle forced organisers to cancel the shootout, the championship leader finding himself in the right place at the right time when the grid positions were determined at the end of Q2.

Although Camier admits he was fortuitous to claim pole position, he insists organisers made the right decision on the grounds of safety.

“It was exactly the right decision in my opinion,” he told Crash.net Radio. “It was too much 'in-between' because you probably could have run slicks at the start, but there was light drizzle so it would have been so easy to fall off. It would have been the same if we'd gone out on wets too.”

Despite the circumstances, Camier had entered Superpole as the favourite for pole position having been almost half a second up on team-mate James Ellison at the end of Q2 regardless.

“The qualifying time we did was quite strong and although there is some more to come, that is pretty good. It is hard to get a big advantage round here and we managed to get almost half a second, which is great.

“The hard thing in the races will be to try and get a break away. It is so tight. I have a few ideas of what I can do though.”
