Brookes forced out by injured thumb

Josh Brookes will not make it out for the second ViSK.com British Superbike race of the day at Mallory Park after injuring his thumb in the six-bike pile-up during the opening encounter.

The Australian admitted to causing the accident that prevented Simon Andrews, Tommy Hill, Chris Walker, Karl Harris and John Laverty from finishing the first race, although the HM Plant Honda rider was the only one to come away with an injury.

Breaking a bone in his thumb, but avoiding ligament damage, Brookes has been forced to wear a cast and is likely to require surgery to correct the ailment. Team manager Havier Beltran says the injury could keep him out of action for up to a month.

Yes, Whithams commentary was spookily on the nail... "Brookes is getting frustrated..... he is looking desperate... mallory is very difficult to pass at... riders can easily get caught out..."

It was an error by a frustrated and desperate rider. Reckless? Maybe, but taken into account with the Guinters incident the ban is probably justified - he should reflect, calm down and show some respect to his fellow riders and to the tracks he racing on - he would probably have run on at the hairpin by braking so late, but the state of the circuit played a role in this too... if its so bumpy off line as to violently kick a machine out of control in a crucial braking area should it be on the calender?
