Muggeridge tests HM Plant Honda

Karl Muggeridge has made a surprise appearance for HM Plant Honda during testing at Cadwell Park as the team evaluates its rider options for the upcoming British Superbike rounds.

HM Plant are faced with a selection problem for the next Brands Hatch round of the series following Glen Richards' leg-breaking injury and Josh Brookes' two-race suspension from Mallory Park.

Although Richards' place was initially confirmed to be taken by Steve Plater at Brands Hatch and the following Cadwell Park event, this plan may now have been scrapped in order for him to concentrate on his Supersport title prospects.

Nonetheless, HM Plant have been actively looking for a substitute, inviting Muggeridge to test for them, ten years after he last competed with the team in the Supersport category. The former World Supersport Champion, who began the 2009 season racing a Celani Suzuki in the World Superbike Championship, could now be set to resume a long-standing relationship with Honda in BSB.

In addition, Steve Brogan was out testing a Superbike once again, the Superstock rider having made a good impression on his debut at Mallory Park with a pair of two top ten finishes from 23rd on the grid.

Isle of Man TT star John McGuinness was also out on the same bike, giving the team apparent options.

It's pretty much a fact that riders that come with sponsorship money are going to get the rides. Look at Nieto and other riders that are like him that come with some kind of backing. Most likely these guys have some kind of backing and that's why they're getting the opportunity to test with the team. As was said in an earlier post, most of the young British talent have made it to where they are with no backing. That's fine in Superstock and Supersport but in the sbk class those who have backing are going to get the chances especially when they are just fill in riders. There are exceptions but they seem to be in the minority.

It sucks, but that's just the way it is.
