Morais to stand in for Tamada at Brands

Sheridan Morais will return to the Paul Bird Motorsport Kawasaki team for this weekend's MCE British Superbike Championship round at Brands Hatch as a replacement for the injured Makoto Tamada.

Kawasaki's factory World Superbike team will make an appearance in the British national series this weekend, but Tamada will not be present following an accident at Brno that saw him re-fracture his finger.

As such, the rider line-up will now comprise of Morais alongside Broc Parkes, the South African getting his second shot on the Kawasaki ZX-10R this year following a star turn on home soil at Kyalami.

Returning to the scene of his best Superstock 1000 result in 2008, where he finished second, Morais also finished a fine sixth on his World Supersport debut last time out at Brno.

In addition, the team will debut a new sponsor at Brands Hatch after inking a deal with clothing brand Henleys.

“We recognise the fast-paced environment our customers live in and aim to create collections with a distinct personality that enhance the wearer's lifestyle so by linking up with Paul Bird and the Kawasaki Superbike Racing Team, that allows us to do that,” said Henleys Creative Director Simon Peters.

“We are delighted to welcome Henleys to our portfolio of distinguished partners and they are another recognised brand that adds vitality to our team,” team owner Paul Bird added. “We feel their products reflect in what we are doing and look forward to a successful association, starting this week at Brands Hatch.”
