History beckons for runaway leader Camier

Leon Camier stands to become one of the most successful British Superbike Championship riders of all-time if he wraps up victory in all three races during the latest round of the series at Brands Hatch.

A win at Mallory Park takes Airwaves Yamaha rider Camier up to 11 wins from this year's 14 races, putting him just two behind Niall Mackenzie's record of 13 for victories in a single season, achieved back in 1997.

With four 'doubles' under his belt too, Camier is well positioned to become the first rider in BSB history to score a 'triple' at Brands Hatch following the decision to host three races for the first time at this meeting.

Already 75.5 points ahead in the rider standings, Camier is looking forward to the prospect of an additional race, claiming it will push him physically.

"It's going to be interesting to see how the weekend goes. A third race will be physically harder for all the riders out there. But I'm looking forward to it. I'm feeling really comfortable on the Airwaves Yamaha and I'm fitter than ever. I think the race on the Saturday will produce closer racing on the Sunday.

“Teams will have an extra evening to work on their bikes with race data. The season so far has been incredible for us. We just need to keep the momentum going for the rest of the season."

This might sound strange, but I think Leon's been really unlucky to hit form this year of all years - he's riding really well and I think if he'd been in this shape last year he'd have pushed Byrne all the way. Form of his life, well sorted ride and the Championship's disappeared around him - I was looking forward to a season long Camier/Guintoli battle, too. I hope he gets picked up by a good WSBK team for next year, or better still...I think he's pretty good mates with Stoner - satellite Ducati ride? It's got to be worth a try...
