Gary Mason has put himself into a position to win the Mirror.co.uk British Superbike Cup at the upcoming Croft round following another double victory at Cadwell Park.

Marking his 14th and 15th wins of the season – bringing him into line with main title contender Leon Camier -, Mason was once again on the pace with the Superbike class riders at Cadwell Park throughout the weekend.

Coming away with a pair of top ten finishes in the process, Mason remains 13th in the overall points standings but, more crucially, has opened up a 111.5 point advantage over Peter Hickman in the Cup reckoning.

“In race two I found myself behind Harris for much of the race,” said the Quay Garage Honda rider. “Although I had the pace to catch and pass him I ran out of laps to execute a move. I am extremely happy to have secured two further victories in the Cup championship, extending our lead over Peter Hickman.

“Thanks to the team, all sponsors and my loyal supporters for backing us this weekend and I look forward to more of the same at Croft.”

With seven races and 175 points remaining, Mason can mathematically wrap up the Cup title next time out at Croft, needing just 13.5 points more than Hickman to be crowned five races early.
