Andrews celebrates best grid slot yet

Simon Andrews believes a win is in the offing at Croft after he secured his best ever British Superbike grid position of second place.

The Confused.com Kawasaki rider provided Leon Camier with his closest competition during the pole position shootout, even if he would emerge some eight tenths adrift by the end of the session.

Nonetheless, having broken his podium duck last time out at Cadwell Park, Andrews is cautiously optimistic that he can challenge for a maiden victory too – provided he can get a better start than Camier and Stuart Easton off the line.

"We worked really hard in qualifying and finishing second is such a good result for the team. It is our best result of the season so far and that means we only have one more place to achieve this year and that is of course the pole! I need to get the whole shot, but I know that even when I think I have got it, Stuart (Easton) nips by like a freight train.

"I need to get ahead and stay there, especially Leon (Camier); I got him back once at Cadwell Park but then he was able to get me back so hopefully if I get ahead I can hold him off. I think that a win is not that far away; we have proved before we can run at the front, like we did at Mallory Park, so I definitely haven't ruled it out.

“We have made some really good improvements all year and I want to be back on the podium tomorrow to keep the momentum up now we have got this far."
