Richards set for Silverstone return

HM Plant Honda's rider line-up will be back to full strength at the upcoming MCE British Superbike round at Silverstone after the team confirmed Glen Richards will return from injury.

Richards has been on the sidelines since the sixth round at Knockhill when a collision with Ian Lowry during qualifying left him with a broken left femur.

Having missed five meetings and eleven races in order to recuperate, Richards is destined to return for the final two rounds at Silverstone and Oulton Park having been able to maintain his fitness levels during his time off.

Completing several laps on a Superstock bike at Silverstone in readiness for his comeback, team manager Havier Beltran was pleased to have his original line-up once again.

"We are happy to have Glen back on the HM Plant Honda for Silverstone, especially as he has worked so incredibly hard to maintain his fitness levels since the crash,” he told the BSB website.

“He completed around 40 - 50 laps of Silverstone today on a Superstock bike and he feels 100% stronger than he did when he rode the bike before the Croft round."

Richards had been classified fourth in the standings prior to the accident. The Australian has since dropped to 12th, but remains just 31 points behind his original position with five races remaining.

This shot taken by Ken Richardson is one of my favourites simply because I know how difficult it is to get that action shot that everyone wants. They’ve seen the race on TV, seen Plater go down and automatically think that their ‘snapper’ should have got it, well life isn’t like that is it! Not only do you have to be in the right place at the right time but you’ve then got to be able to deliver and capture the action, this is a fantastic shot and yet again shows what’s possible from the spectator enclosures.
