'Business as usual' as Camier gets first BSB title shot

If Leon Camier scores just half a point more than Airwaves Yamaha team-mate James Ellison in race one of this weekend's penultimate Silverstone round, then he will claim his first British Superbike title.

With five races remaining - two at Silverstone and then three at Oulton Park - Camier holds a 99.5 point advantage over Ellison, who is the only other rider still in with a shot at the crown.

Having won 16 of the 21 races so far this season and beaten Ellison a total of 17 times - 18 if you count his race two DSQ at Cadwell Park - Camier won't be making any special changes for Silverstone.

"I'm really looking forward to Silverstone. In terms of the races, it's just business as usual,” he insisted. “I know what I need to do; I'll prepare as normal, keep myself busy and not really think about the championship a whole lot.”

Ellison's first task will be to qualify well - after starting sixth, seventh, sixth, eighth and fifth at the last five rounds - and he will also need to keep one eye on the threatening Stuart Easton, who took his first BSB win last time out at Croft and is now within 32 points of Ellison in the championship.

"I think we're going to see some close racing this weekend, so it'll be important for us to be at the top of the timesheets from first practice onwards,” said Ellison.

“I've had a nightmare in qualifying recently, doing my fastest time in the second session rather than the third. It'll be vital to get qualifying right at Silverstone.

“I'll be pushing Leon as much as I can, but I can't forget to keep an eye out for Stuart Easton who'll be looking to snatch away second in the standings,” he confirmed.

I hope he gets Spies ride in WSBK if Spies moves on to MotoGP. You can hardly say Spies is bursting with Personality, his post race interviews are so boring.
