Neil Hodgson back in British Superbike

Neil Hodgson will return to the British Superbike Championship next season, ten years after he won the title.

Having signed for the Motorpoint Yamaha team, Hodgson is bidding to regain the domestic crown he won in a dramatic final round back in 2000, a success that prompted his move into the World Superbike series - which he also won with Ducati in 2003.

That world championship propelled Hodgson into MotoGP, but a season on uncompetitive satellite Ducati machinery for d'Antin saw the Englishman head to America in 2005 to rebuild his career in the AMA Superbike series.

Riding for Ducati and then Honda, Hodgson has been a regular frontrunner - but unable to replicate his previous levels of Superbike success. With Honda withdrawing factory support for AMA Superbike, Hodgson is coming back to Britain with Yamaha.

“I'm back racing, and I am racing to win the title,” declared Hodgson. “I have a lot of passion in me to get the job done and want to be successful.”

The 2010 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship in association with Pirelli begins at Brands Hatch over the Easter weekend of April 3-5.

"he was a quality rider in his day but must have an awful agent or something! - forced to stay in america all these years and then returning on a rob mac yamaha?!"

News flash - he wasn't forced to do jack sh1t. He wanted to do AMA and didn't want to return to BSB. But since everyone is pulling out of AMA (for good damn reason) he's forced to go back to BSB.

And you say he was quality "in his day" - so when was Tommy Hill or Karl Harris or the like EVER quality? Who the hell is left in BSB that's more quality than Neil?
