MSS Colchester branches into Superstock
15 January 2010
British Superbike front runners MSS Colchester Kawasaki will add the Metzeler National Superstock Championship to its programme in 2010 after signing Howie Mainwaring to its team.
In addition to its commitments in the BSB, MSS Colchester Kawasaki will now join the Superstock series in its own right having aided other Kawasaki teams in the past.
Mainwaring will ride for the team, the 22-year-old attracting MSS Colchester by virtue of his experience in Superstock and his solid turn as a Superbike racer at the end of the 2009 season with Maxxis Adept Yamaha.
To be run alongside the Superbike team, it means Mainwaring will benefit from testing and development over the season.
“It's great to be competing in Superstock,” said team manager Nick Morgan. “We know the ZX-10R is a quality machine straight out of the crate with good power and we think Howie is ready for the challenge. He's been around for a while but this could be his big break and he knows it.”
“I am really looking forward to the 2010 season with MSS Colchester Kawasaki,” Mainwaring added. “I feel that I have a fantastic opportunity with such a professional team and package. I love the Kawasaki ZX-10R having rode one last season with several top six finishes and equalling the fastest lap of the race at Thruxton.
“I genuinely feel I can be a championship contender despite the level of the series this season and testing starts soon, so I can't wait to get started!”
As well as Mainwaring in the Superstock series and Gary Mason and Simon Andrews in Superbikes, Ryan Farquhar will ride for MSS Colchester Kawasaki on the Isle of Man TT and North West 200.
