Tinmouth announces 2012 BSB return
9 March 2012
Jenny Tinmouth has announced she will return to the British Superbike Championship in 2012.
Tinmouth made headlines by becoming the first woman to sign up for BSB last season - but made a belated debut, then parted ways with Splitlath Aprilia after just three rounds.
Tinmouth then switched back to British Supersport for the remainder of last season, but new backing has paved the way for a 2012 BSB return. Tinmouth, who will also compete at the Isle of Man TT, will pilot a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade used in last year's Evo class by Craig Fitzpatrick.
“Racing Superbikes at this level requires a committed title sponsor, for this reason I am really pleased to have the continued support of Sorrymate.com who have partnered me since 2008 to share the title sponsorship with new sponsors Hardinge Machine Tools,” said Tinmouth.
“It is fantastic to have Hardinge on board and we feel we have teamed up with an organisation that has a great pedigree in engineering as well as a full understanding of how a motorsport team works, having been involved in sponsoring motorsport for many years. It is going to be a busy season so it is great we approach it knowing we are well supported; I'm really looking forward to it.”
Tinmouth's achievements to date include being the current Isle of Man TT female lap record holder setting an average speed of 119.945mph, finishing third overall in the British Supersport Cup, being the first female ever to lead a British Championship race and becoming TTXGP UK Champion.
The first round of this season's British Superbike Championship takes place over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend of 6-9 April.
