Laverty determined to bounce back after Brands low

13 April 2012

Michael Laverty says he has put the 'disappointment' of Brands Hatch behind him as he looks to bounce back with a vengeance this weekend at Thruxton.

The Samsung Honda rider is intent on commencing his MCE British Superbike title challenge in earnest after a crash on Easter Monday left him with no points on the board after the opening round.

Tyre longevity will be crucial at the former airfield circuit on Sunday during the two 20-lap races and Laverty is determined to recapture the impressive form he displayed in pre-season testing.

“I have put the Brands Hatch weekend behind me and the focus now is fully on Thruxton,” he said. “I want to turn things around and show the form that we had in pre-season testing and over the opening days at the first round.

“It wasn't just me to have bad luck, Tommy [Hill] and even 'Shakey' [Shane Byrne] did a bit too, so I will be starting from scratch this weekend.

“It will all be about throttle control and getting it right at Thruxton as it is a super-fast track, but at the same time you need to try and conserve the tyres too.”

Jason O'Halloran is the Samsung Honda team's sole rider in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 class at Thruxton as team-mate Gary Johnson is competing for the Honda TT Legends team at the Bol d'Or 24-Hour race in France.
