BSB » Byrne sure of winning potential

Shane Byrne expects to be tasting the winners' champagne at Oulton Park after missing out on glory at Thruxton.
Byrne sure of winning potential
Shane Byrne believes he is on the cusp of his first victory for Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki following his run to the podium at Thruxton.

The former champion recovered from a poor grid position, as well as a bent brake lever, to climb from 15th to fourth position in the opening race of the weekend before going one place better in race two to claim his first podium of the year.

However, having led much of the second race before being overtaken by Tommy Hill and Josh Brookes late on, Byrne admits he was disappointed not to be celebrating from the top step of the podium.

"It's frustrating to lead for much of the race and not to win but I'm reasonably happy with the results. We have made great improvements and have proved we are capable of running at the front so hope we can get a winning run underway at Oulton Park."
