BSB » Brookes eyeing triple victory at Oulton

Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes is heading into the third round of the 2012 MCE British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park with his eye on a triple victory.
Brookes: I’d love to win all three races
Josh Brookes has set himself the lofty target of winning all three MCE British Superbike Championship races at Oulton Park this weekend as he looks to continue the momentum from his excellent Thruxton victory.

The Australian put in a fine ride at Thruxton to battle through the field and snatch victory in the closing laps, a performance that has elevated his confidence heading to Oulton Park, which will include the rescheduled race postponed from Brands Hatch.

Delighted with his feeling on the TAS-prepared Tyco Suzuki GSX-R1000, Brookes says he would now ideally like to join Ryuichi Kiyonari and Leon Camier in the BSB history books by winning all three races,

“It seems like a long time since Thruxton with the two week break,” he said. “We've had a decent start to the year and it's always less stressful having to wait between rounds after a win. It also makes life easier for everyone in the team, but we're all looking forward to Oulton this weekend.

“The new GSX-R1000 worked really well for me at Thruxton and that makes the job a whole lot more enjoyable. I'm now looking forward to the three races this weekend.

“As much as we are there to score heavily in the points, I'd love to win all three races, as only Kiyo and Camier have done it in the past. We'll have to wait and see.”

There are at least 6 riders who could get a victory this year so I think 3 victories sounds a little ambitious. Also he does go particularly well at Thruxton so that can't really be used as a yardstick. But with rain forecast for Monday, I'd stick my neck out and predict a Rutter victory.
