The British Superbike Samsung Honda team has withdrawn from this weekend's support race at the British
MotoGP at Silverstone.
The team reached the decision due to a delay in the arrival of 'revised parts' for testing, which has impacted on Samsung Honda's planned testing schedule.
Michael Laverty has also just returned from his stand-in role in the Honda TT Legends team at the 8-Hours of Doha Endurance World Championship round in Qatar, while his
BSB team-mate Jon Kirkham is still battling back to full fitness following a huge crash at
Oulton Park a few weeks ago.
Team manager, Havier Beltran, said: “It is disappointing that we have had to make the decision to withdraw from this weekend's
Silverstone 200 but we will not be in a position to maximise the track time available due to several racing components not being ready in time.
“We also have to take into consideration rider wellbeing and our priority is the British Superbike Championship, with our goal to have both riders fresh and ready to go for wins at the next round at Knockhill, and to both secure top-six positioning before the championship reaches the showdown phase.”
Laverty helped secure the Honda TT Legends team's maiden rostrum finish in the Endurance World Championship at the weekend in Qatar, when he was joined in the team by Ryuichi Kiyonari and Jason O'Halloran.
