Haga heads for the Highlands

19 June 2012

Noriyuki Haga will make his Scottish racing debut during round five of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Knockhill this weekend.

Having spent the majority of his racing career on spacious world championship circuits, the Japanese ace is likely to find Knockhill deceptively compact. Although only 1.27 miles in length and almost triangular on paper, in reality the circuit features continuous twists, dips and rises.

And that's without taking into account the notorious Knockhill weather.

β€œIt will be my first time of going to Knockhill and I know that it is a short track and people tell me the weather can change very quickly,” said Haga, who recently rode in the World Endurance Championship event at Qatar.

β€œI have been watching the racing from last year on DVD and I am looking forward to get out on the Swan Yamaha there. I don't have any experience of the track but I am hoping that we can achieve some good results.”

Haga will start the weekend ninth in the championship, but only eleven points behind sixth places Stuart Easton, who currently holds the final Showdown spot but will miss his home event through injury.
