Walker to attempt Knockhill qualifying

23 June 2012

Chris Walker says he will be 'sensible' when making a decision on whether to race at Knockhill this weekend after being passed fit enough to race a day after injuring his heels in an accident during practice.

Walker's burgeoning title dreams looked to be in tatters when he suffered a heavy tumble during FP1 around the Scottish venue, the BSB veteran initially feared to have fractures in both heels.

However, far from being ruled out of the coming rounds, Walker has since been passed fit to get back on the Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki ahead of qualifying

Even so, with X-rays not ruling out the possibility of heel fractures, Walker admits it isn't a certainty that he will go ahead and compete.

"It is a big disappointment to have had the crash yesterday,” he told the BSB website. “I high-sided on a wet patch and landed in the next braking zone so it was a big one! The Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki looked like it had been thrown off the back of a trailer on the M1 so the boys have done a great job of getting it back together and thanks to PBM who have helped us with some parts.

"It looks like I have broken both heels and I had to do the medical assessment before I could be passed fit for this afternoon, but I am going to be sensible and if after a few laps it isn't possible then I will have to sit out the rest of the weekend. I have my fingers crossed especially as we could have a good result here at Knockhill when we are getting closer to the top six in the standings."

Walker is currently seventh in the standings and well in contention for a title showdown spot.
