Bridewell moves into Showdown position

26 June 2012

Tommy Bridewell has assumed the critical 'sixth place' in the MCE British Superbike Championship standings after another solid weekend of results hauled himself and Supersonic BMW up the order.

The youngster has been a revelation since landing a ride with the team on the eve of the new season starting, Bridewell producing a set of consistent results that have seen him finish inside the top six on six occasions this year.

Carrying that form to Knockhill, Bridewell hauled himself into contention to edge out Noriyuki Haga for fifth in race one before finishing a competitive sixth in race two.

Coupled with Stuart Easton's absence and fairly average results for his key rivals, Bridewell has now moved up to sixth overall, just two points behind race winner Ian Lowry on the Padgetts Honda.

Even so, Bridewell feels there is still much more to come from the S1000RR and has duly set his sights on scoring a maiden podium for the German manufacturer in the coming races.

“It was a very hard day to be honest. The weather was dry so it was good but I had to ride really hard. I was pretty happy with the outcome.

“In race two, I did not feel 100 per cent confident with the bike. I had some set-up issues but I think that once we sort out these problems, there's no reason why we can't get on the podium. We still concentrate on championship points and do our best."
