Aitchison to BSB with Quattro Plant Kawasaki

Mark Aitchison is to make his much rumoured MCE British Superbike Championship debut at Oulton Park this weekend after finalising terms to ride with Quattro Plant Kawasaki for the remainder of the 2012 season.
The Australian began the year competing in the World Superbike Championship aboard the Grillini Progea BMW S1000RR, but has been linked with a move to the British series since splitting with the Italian outfit just five rounds into the season.
British-based Aitchison will assume the seat vacated by Gary Mason, who left Quattro Plant Kawasaki after four rounds, and make his first appearance with the team at Oulton Park this weekend.
“I am very happy to be joining Quattro Plant Kawasaki, in what is a very competitive championship,” he said. “As I was in the Northwest meeting with John (Jameson) and Julian (Mosquera), I took the opportunity to ride Steve Heneghan's Superstock around Oulton Park for six laps, before we come here as part of the championship next week.
“For me it will be important to build and develop myself and the bike over the next few rounds. In such a series as the BSB, we need to build up the momentum before we can challenge at the front.“
Joining Freddy Foray to form an international line-up at Quattro Plant Kawasaki, team manager John Jameson is delighted to be welcoming a rider of Aitchison's calibre to his operation.
”Circumstances unfortunately conspired to cause us to look for a new team mate for Freddy, but in doing so we couldn't have landed better in securing WSBK rider Mark Aitchison for the balance of 2012. We are looking for Mark to help move the team on and demonstrate the true potential of our Kawasaki ZX-10R.
“We'll see where that leads in due course, but it's fair to say Mark has already made an impression and the team is highly motivated. I believe the combination of Freddy and Mark will be a great asset to the team and BSB.”
The move will see Aitchison reunited with Kawasaki machinery following his eye-catching WSBK debut on the Pedercini ZX-10R in 2011, one that yielded several points' finishes.
