First BSB win for Haga at Oulton Park?

4 July 2012

Noriyuki Haga is confident he can return to the MCE British Superbike Championship podium as he prepares to return to familiar soil at Oulton Park.

Former World Superbike front runner Haga has endured a mixed maiden season of BSB racing as he continues to get to grips with the national series aboard the Swan Yamaha, but Oulton Park did herald his first – and so far only – podium when he finished behind team-mate Tommy Hill earlier in the year.

Returning to Cheshire for the second triple-header of the season, Haga is hoping the benefit of experience will aid his cause and give him the chance to challenge for the victory that would help towards his 'Showdown' aspirations.

"I had one second place finish at Oulton Park earlier in the season and at that round we found a good set up for the Swan Yamaha so we can start the weekend with that again. I hope it is sunny and that we can fight to get podiums in the races and get the credits.

“We need good results this weekend. I am ninth in the standings and I will do everything I can to jump to fifth or sixth which we need for the Showdown. I like the Oulton Park circuit and I have experience there already with the Swan Yamaha so I hope we can have a successful weekend."

Crashes in two of the last four races have consigned to Haga ninth in the BSB standings, though he is just 12 points behind the sixth place man Tommy Bridewell.
