Rutter’s first Donington since 2008, Buchan fracture

6 September 2012

Michael Rutter will be making his first Donington Park appearance since 2008, during this weekend's final Main Season round of the MC British Superbike Championship.

The MSS Bathams Kawasaki is out of Title Fighter contention, sitting 15th in the championship, but after a hectic summer combining Superbike and Road Racing the 40-year-old Midlander is confident he can get back to the sharp end.

“I'm really looking forward to getting back to Donington, what with injury and not having a ride I've not actually raced there since 2008!” said Rutter, absent from the BSB podium since round one.

“The bike is improving all the time and Danny did a fantastic job at Cadwell; we know the bike is capable of being up there so we'll be going out for these final four rounds aiming to show everyone what we can do.”

Boosted after his Cadwell Park performance, when he secured an impressive fourth in only his second meeting on the Superbike, team-mate Danny Buchan is equally hopeful heading into the weekend – despite a recently discovered fracture.

“Since Cadwell I've been getting plenty of rest and doing some cardio as it turns out I've got a fractured clavicle from the crash in FP3,” he said. “However apart from the slight mistake in race two, Cadwell was a dream weekend for me.

“The Superbike really feels like my own now, which I think we proved by running at the front in both races so it'll be awesome if we can get a couple of top ten finishes here as well.”
