Josh Brookes remains on course for a pole position challenge at Donington Park after topping his second free practice session of the British Superbike weekend in FP3.
Setting the fastest time of the event thus far, Brookes's effort of 1min 29.843secs came in the closing stages of the session and was enough to deny both Alex Lowes and James Westmoreland, the WFR Honda riders nonetheless maintaining their strong form to go second and third.
In fact, the top five would again reflect the leading positions of FP1 and FP2, with Michael Laverty and Luca Scassa rounding out the top five, the pair making it four Honda riders inside the top five.
Behind them, Swan Yamaha riders Tommy Hill and Noriyuki Haga improved to sixth and seventh places, the latter continuing to do a sterling job to ride around his broken collarbone this weekend.
Having only been 20th fastest in FP2, Patric Muff leapt to eighth on the Supersonic BMW, ahead of S1000RR counterpart Barry Burrell and Tyco Suzuki rider Alastair Seeley, the Ulsterman having suffered a fall in the closing stages.
Beyond Lowes, Westmoreland and Haga, the remaining Title Showdown contenders Ian Lowry and Tommy Bridewell were 11th and 13th best ahead of qualifying.
